When Kjetil Marius Istad resigned as head of the state procurement giant Sykehusinnkjøp, he contacted the startup he had been a customer of - and asked to join the trip.
Press: The founders of Ignite Procurement, who develop SaaS solutions for strategic procurement and purchasing, recently told about their very ambitious growth plans.
"The goal for the current year is to increase subscription revenues on the purchasing tool by 2.5 times. At the same time, the staff will more than double to around 50 people," says co-founder Sigbjørn Nome.
This year, the company is also recruiting for Kjetil M. Istad as a Senior Adviser. Istad left at the beginning of February as CEO of Sykehusinnkjøp, the health trust he has built up to become one of the country's largest public purchasers.
Hospital procurement is also one of Ignite Procurement's major customers, so the parties know each other very well.
"One of the things that is frustrating in the public sector is access to data. You have large systems, but struggle to assemble them. I think I have come a long way with this in Hospital Purchasing. Ignite has taken it further and is thinking fresh about how it can be done in a simpler way," says Istad.
He further adds, "I want to be a part of that. It is needed everywhere in the world. There is so much purchasing data, but to put it together so that it can be used to make strategic choices, many people struggle with."
